DESCRIPTION: Comedy in Congleton in March 2026 with Steve Gribbin (‘Pulls it off with real aplomb.’ The Independent)\, James Ellis (‘Talented comedy craftsman” Chortle)\, Hot Water Comedy Club Comedian of the Year Eddy Midgley and MC Ben Van der Velde (‘The perfect comedy club host’ Huffington Post) at Radley & Co\, beneath The Lion & Swan\, Congleton. Please scroll down for comedians’ details. \n Acts subject to change. Proper sweary\, swearing. Fully seated. 18+ We want all our guests to have a great night so please respect those around you by turning off your phone and not talking whilst the show is in progress. Sorry\, but we can only refund or reallocate if the show is cancelled. Thanks! \nSteve Gribbin first took to the stage at the tender age of 13. He was cruelly beaten into third place by a ventriloquist and a Donny Osmond impersonator. By his late teens\, Steve was fifty per cent of comedy duo Skint Video just as something called ‘alternative comedy’ was beginning to infuriate the tabloids..\nAll good things come to an end and Skint Video was no different. Steve got custody of the guitar and metamorphosised into the comedy circuit’s most prolific and productive performer. \n‘A highly refreshing and original comic. Hilarious!’ The Scotsman   ‘Pulls it off with real aplomb.’ The Independent \nJames Ellis’ sharp observational humour and clever punchlines have won him rave reviews from critics and audiences alike. James’ comedy is rooted in everyday life\, and he has a knack for finding the funny in the mundane. A gifted writer\, his jokes are well-crafted and delivered with precision. \nLeicester Comedian of The Year 2025 Nominee\, South Coast Comedian of the Year 2021\, regional finalist for the BBC New Comedy Award\, James has supported Angela Barnes on her “Angst” Tour. If you’re looking for a good laugh on a night out\, be sure to catch James live! \n“Talented comedy craftsman” Chortle \nBen Van der Velde has spread joy and nonsense to all four corners of the British Isles\, as well as Greece\, Denmark\, Sweden\, Switzerland\, Estonia\, Latvia\, Finland and Norway. \nA regular at The Comedy Store\, Komedia and The Glee\, Ben also hosts festival stages for Bestival\, Festival No.6\, End of the Road and Sunday Papers Live  and doing audience warm-up for Deal Or No Deal.  \nBen has also performed a voodoo re-marriage ceremony(!)\, founded the Church of the Holy Kazoo with comedy legend Mark Thomas\, walked the entire London Underground network to raise money for The Refugee Council\, hosted a comedy tour of the FIFA Museum in Zurich and even took part in experiments at The Royal Society that revealed him to have the most infectious laugh of any human\, rat or monkey. \n“The perfect comedy club host – he is a master of audience interaction. The audience weren’t just warmed up\, but pretty hysterical even before the first act of the night hit the stage.” Huffington Post\n \n“Wonderfully improvised riffs showcasing his impressive spontaneity and sharp tongue.” Edinburgh Festivals Magazine \n“On flights of fancy\, he pushes ideas to extremes and displays a crackling\, spontaneous energy in which we’re swept up.” Fest\n \nYour evening comes complete with 2024 Hot Water Comedy Club Comedian of the Year Eddy Midgley  Comedy in Congleton in March 2026 booked by Comedy In A Van \nComedy in Congleton on Wednesday 4 March 2026 with Steve Gribbin\, James Ellis\, Eddy Midgley & Ben van der Velde (C) Comedy In A Van \n  \n  \n

SUMMARY:Holmes Chapel RUFC Comedy Night
DESCRIPTION:Comedy in Holmes Chapel with Ireland’s Paddy Lennox ( ‘Simply a scream” The Telegraph )\, Canada’d Glenn Wool (‘Why aren’t you in a queue somewhere buying a ticket?’ Scotsman) Jules O’Brian and MC Rob Riley all raising funds for Holmes Chapel RUFC on Valentine’s Day! \nActs subject to change. Fully seated. 18+ Proper swearing. We want all our guests to have a great night so please respect those around you by turning off your phone and not talking whilst the show is in progress. Thanks! \nPaddy Lennox’s charming Irish lilt is very much like the man himself – instantly likeable\, with oodles of genuine charm. Whether it’s silly stories or bang up top the minute topical gags\, Paddy could charm the birds out of the trees.   Although an accomplished actor\, (Paddy has performed with Mark Rylance at The Globe we shall have you know\,) stand up remains Paddy’s first love and Holby City remains his only notable death.  \n  “Comedy the way it should be” ★★★★ Fest     “simply a scream” The Telegraph  “Excellent stand up” ★★★★ Three Weeks \nVancouver’s Glenn Wool reached these shores in the mid-Nineties and\, much to the disdain of lesser comedians\, it looks like he’s here to stay. When not at home in his adopted Essex\, Wool consistently sells out shows at the world’s biggest comedy festivals and has appeared on numerous TV shows. Topical\, engaging\, opinionated but never preachy and\, of course\, downright hysterically funny\, Glenn is a surefire hit in front of any audience. \n“Why aren’t you in a queue somewhere buying a ticket?” Scotsman  “Effortlessly funny” Guardian   “Absolutely hilarious” Independent \nYour show is completed by Jules O’Brian who performs at venues and festivals around the country\, telling anyone who will listen about ageing disgracefully\, body hang-ups\, parenting\, and dating. She is TalkTalk’s official voice and her silly writings feature frequently in magazines including Prima and MamaLife. This former teacher’s relaxed and chatty style\, crowd interaction and warmth\, all served with a sardonic wit\, make her a natural crowd pleaser. \nComedy in Holmes Chapel comes complete with MC Rob Riley.   Holmes Chapel RUFC Comedy Night is booked and teched by Comedy In A Van \nComedy returns to Holmes Chapel RUFC.
