SUMMARY:First Thursday Comedy @ The Met\, Bury
DESCRIPTION:First Thursday comedy at Bury Met in December with Paul McCaffrey (Live At The Apollo\, Stand Up Central etc)\, Ian Stone (‘It’s the sheer quantity of funny material that impresses’ The List)\, Paul Campbell and your compere\, Mick Ferry (‘Masterful’ The List) all at the First Thursday Comedy Club at The Met\, Bury. Please scroll down for comedians’ details. \nActs subject to change. Proper sweary\, swearing. Fully seated. 18+ We want all our guests to have a great night so please respect those around you by turning off your phone and not talking whilst the show is in progress. Sorry\, but we can only refund or reallocate if the show is cancelled. Thanks! \nIf you’re a fan of Mock The Week or 5 Live’s Fighting Talk then Ian Stone will have already made you laugh. This north London\, working class\, Jewish comedian has an easy-going manner that endears him to any crowd. \nHe has also achieved a couple of ‘firsts’\, first Brit comic to gig in Moscow and first on the Mumbai Comedy Store too. Firsts are all well and good but he also has a pretty impressive ‘last’ when he was booked for the QE2’s last trip across the Atlantic. \nHe’s also been pretty impressive as an author. ‘To Be Somebody’ tells of his love of post punk band The Jam\, even gaining approval from front man Paul Weller; ‘I really liked this book. I’d forgotten how shit it was in the seventies’ \nThe Independent newspaper declared Ian to be amongst the top ten stand up comedians in Britain and the rest of the press have been pretty impressed too! \n“Seriously funny” The Guardian      “Ultimately\, it’s the sheer quantity of funny material that impresses” The List \n“Stone’s beautifully crafted stories\, peppered with gags and asides were hilarious throughout.” Chortle \nPaul McCaffrey’s numerous TV appearances include Live at the Apollo\, Russell Howard’s Good News\, Impractical Jokers UK and Stand Up Central. One of the most in-demand club headliners and support act for the biggest names in comedy including Kevin Bridges and Sean Lock. Whether it’s an enormous arena the cosy confines of a pub back room\, McCaffrey’s slightly cynical and completely baffled take on modern life wows the crowd every time. Come and see why! \n‘Gut-bustlingly hilarious‘ GQ Magazine ‘Fucking funny‘ Frank Skinner ‘Born to be a comic’ The Scotsman \nFew are funnier than Comedy Store and Frog & Bucket veteran Mick Ferry! Whether he’s running with a scatterbrained idea\, an audience suggestion or dipping into his extensive mental files of absolute\, top drawer gags and routines\, the end result is a barrage of laughter from a very happy audience and that is what we are all about. \n★★★★★ Mirror “Absolute legend” Jason Manford “See him or regret it” John Bishop \nPaul Campbell takes the middle spot  The comedians you see at The Met\, Bury are booked by Comedy In A Van \nIan Stone\, Paul McCaffrey\, Paul Campbell and MC Mick Ferry at The Met\, Bury. on Thursday 4 December 2025 (C) Comedy In A Van \n  \n  \n

Thanks! \nChris Washington made his Edinburgh Fringe debut in 2017 with his self-produced show\, ‘Dream Big (Within Reason)’ after taking all his annual leave in his full-time job as a postman. The gamble paid off with Chris receiving a nomination for Best Newcomer despite having no management\, promoter or PR. A feel-good underdog story which he describes as ‘getting five numbers and the bonus ball on the comedy lottery’.  Jokes are now the only things Chris has to deliver and his sack is positively bulging with them.  Telly appearances include Live from the BBC\, Mock the Week and Richard Osman’s House of Games. \n★★★★★ One4Review ★★★★★ Three Weeks ★★★★ Times ★★★★ Chortle \nWell\, where do we start when it comes to Bethany Black? We could tell you that Chorley’s funniest daughter is Britain’s only goth\, lesbian\, transsexual comedian but that was fully covered in her debut show – ‘Beth Becomes Her’. \nAs well as making people laugh a lot\, Beth was spotted by Russell T Davis and played ‘Helen’ in Channel 4 series’ Cucumber\, Banana and Tofu. This is all well and good but just how funny is she? A happy-go-lucky style\, occasionally bordering on the mischievous has won over delights audiences across the nation.A prolific gag smith\, Phil’s material is both fresh and topical and he has written for both BBC Radio 4’s The News Quiz and BBC Radio 4 Extra’s Newsjack. His smash hit single Slogans (in collaboration with DJ Hans Face Space)\, was released to great fanfare during the pandemic. \n‘An instant hit‘ Liverpool Echo \nJoey Page was something of a cult comic\, a hit at comedy festivals around the globe and popped up on Never Mind The Buzzcocks in it’s BBC 2 days.
