The Den is the Royal Exchange Theatre’s mobile theatre and is an integral part of the wider Local Exchange programme. This unique and inventive performance space has been designed by the award-winning architectural studio Haworth Tompkins and supported by the Oglesby Charitable Trust.
In August 2019 the Den was built for the first time in Stalybridge Civic Hall to host the first Local Exchange Festival which included 17 performances, 4 workshops, a stakeholder event and an artist mixer resulting in 910 attendances across the festival days.
The Den returns to Stalybridge in May 2025 as part of Tameside Festival hosting a myriad of events including our comedy night!
