A very busy person is Andrew O’Neill. Yeah, they are an award-winning comedian, but they also find time to be an accomplished musician, best-selling author, Victoriana obsessive, co-writer and star of Radio 4’s occult sitcom Damned Andrew!
Andrew describes themself as a psychedelic non-binary whirlwind, combining surrealism, polemic and good old-fashioned stagecraft to produce uniquely counter-cultural stand-up and we agree that they pretty much do what it says on the tin. We would also like to add that Andrew is funny. Very, very funny.
There’s nothing Andrew loves more than taking a new show to the Edinburgh Fringe then touring it to the faithful. This all started with ‘ Winston Churchill Was Jack The Ripper‘ right up to his latest offering; ”We Are Not In the Least Afraid of Ruins; We Carry a New World in Our Hearts” .
As a founder member of steampunk band The Men That Will Not Be Blamed For Nothing and author of the bestselling A History Of Heavy Metal, Andrew’s a shoe in for music festival comedy stages and Glastonbury, Download, Leeds and Reading, Bloodstock, Latitude, V-Fest have all been treated to Andrewisms and they once supported the Kaiser Chiefs!
But what about the telly, we hear you ask? Well, there’s everything from Never Mind The Buzzcocks, Saxondale, 50 Years Of Rock Excess, and Good News Week.
One of our most distinctive and original comedic performers. Andrew O’Neill is a national treasure in the making.
‘Hitting new heights of comedic brilliance.’ Time Out ‘His finely-tuned jokes are a joy to behold.’ Metro
Strolling onto stage like a missing Gallagher brother, Oxfordshire’s Matt Bragg first picked up a mic in 2015 and quickly found his distinctive style. Matt’s ultra laid back delivery makes everything look oh so easy and his timing utilises pauses that would make Pinter wince. There’s a definite hint of Frank Skinner in Matt’s overall rhythm too and what’s wrong with that?
Style over substance can work in comedy but Matt has substance in buckets. Tightly crafted gags and routines whose punchlines steer well clear of the lazy or obvious are just another reason audiences love him.
Stand up comedy courses through Matt’s veins (he’s the son of renowned TV warm up man, Bobby) and regularly writes for fellow comics, television, radio and social media campaigns.
Currently supporting Ricky Gervais on tour, Matt has also supported Harry Hill, Clinton Baptiste and Soccer AM’s Lloyd Griffith.
Come and see him before he’s filling stadiums.
“Thoroughly enjoyable” Reginald D Hunter “Excellent gags!” Harry Hill “Very good. Nice style, great jokes” Justin Moorhouse
Mick Ferry returns to compere too, a man who needs no introduction to Manchester or London Comedy Store regulars but, if you have yet to have had the pleasure, he is, quite simply, the best MC working in the UK today.
Whether he’s running with a scatterbrained idea, an audience suggestion or dipping into his extensive mental files of absolute, top drawer gags and routines, the end result is a barrage of laughter from a very happy audience and that is what we are all about.
“See him or regret it” John Bishop“Absolute legend” Jason Manford ★★★★★ Mirror
